+ WORKSHOP FORMAT
This full day workshop will focus on the complexities of scene and character work, committing to making bold choices for screen acting and give the actor a feel for what it's like to work on set with Claire McCarthy. There will be an opportunity to discuss all things screen-acting, including ways to prepare material for an audition, how to approach character and to make the most of the pages (particularly when you only have a fragment and not the whole script to work with). The workshop will look at gut emotion vs script analysis, character work, message, meaning and subtext across a few never-before-seen-on-screen scenes.
Script excerpts will be given in advance of the workshop and an optional zoom prior will be offered to field any initial questions.
Techniques will be explored about analysis, blocking a scene, working with physical and psychological gesture and the language of the camera. Explore all the above in moderated scene work, both individually and with a scene partner, through practical exercises, discussion and responding to scripts.
Your scenes will be recorded with broadcast quality equipment. Upon request, you have the option to receive your footage after the session for no extra cost!
