+ WORKSHOP FORMAT
This full day workshop will focus on screen acting techniques, to give the actor a feel for what it's like to work on set with Makalla McPherson Discover how to make the most of the material. How to make the most of the subtext in a scene! Discuss blocking a scene and working with the camera’s choreography. We will explore all the above through practical exercises, discussion and acting from scripts.
Your scenes will be recorded with broadcast quality equipment. Upon request, you have the option to receive your footage after the session for no extra cost!
MAKALLA'S BIO
Makalla McPherson is a writer/director from London. Makalla wrote her debut play WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT for The Oval Theatre in 2018 which was supported by The Arts Council. Makalla was mentored by Coky Giedroyc whilst spending time on the set of BBC Drama, WHAT REMAINS. She was later selected for The Creative Diversity Network scheme and mentored by Executive Producer, Sarah Brown. Makalla has since gone on to direct award-winning TV drama, WATERLOO ROAD and was the main and second unit director on Shondaland’s 2023 award winning Netflix series, QUEEN CHARLOTTE. Last year, she also directed the Disney, C4 & Onyx adaptation of Candice Carty-Williams’ best-selling novel, QUEENIE. She is currently directing an episode of the later series of DR WHO, starring Ncuti Gatwa.
