ROWLAND'S BIO
Rowland has been working in casting for over 17 years, and has worked on numerous productions such as Being April, The Bill, Grease Monkeys and The Afternoon Plays. Rowland works as a casting director at the BBC's in-house casting department and is currently casting Casualty.
His work for the BBC includes Father Brown, The Coroner, My Jihad, Playing Ball, Doctors, Eastenders, Eastenders E20, Another World and Shakespeare & Hathaway. He also cast the 2021 BAFTA award winning episode of Casualty.
As well as casting, Rowland joined the BBC Studios Executive Committee in July 2020 as part of the BBC Senior Leadership Advisor Programme, in which he brings a diversity of thinking into decision making at the very top of the BBC, helping to broaden mindsets and offer new perspectives that aid BBC Studios’ creative, financial and strategic objectives.
He is also a member of the Emerging Creators Group and The Scriptworks Talent Board, both groups are accountable for on and off screen talent who have a demonstrable ability to add to our existing portfolio of productions as well as creating new and bold, British IP which fits with BBC Studios priority genres. Diversity & Inclusivity is front and centre.
He runs casting workshops for actors across many under-represented groups, with a view to casting them in BBC Studios continuing dramas..
