+ WORKSHOP FORMAT

A new casting workshop format that explores all parts of the casting process. The aim is to have all the actors who participate on their feet as much as possible! On the day you will be an actor, a reader, a camera operator and a casting assistant! 

Having looked at your Spotlight CV and Showreel, Matt Sheppard will send out a selection of scenes before the workshop. Please choose a scene that suits you best regardless of gender, age and ethnicity. Matt would like you to be as familiar with the text as possible.

Following an introduction, participants will film their tape with Matt Sheppard under audition conditions (with the whole group present). We have superb equipment for the best learning experience. Matt will give each participant notes allowing them the chance to do a second take. This will be followed by a short tea break and an informal Q&A.

Your scenes will be recorded with broadcast quality equipment. Upon request, you have the option to receive your footage after the session for no extra cost!

MATT'S BIO

Matt began casting in 2018, first assisting Carolyn McLeod CDG, CSA across many of her projects including the BAFTA nominated & BIFA award-winning Boiling Point and double BIFA award-winning Sweetheart. Matt then went on to work with Jina Jay CDG, CSA from 2021 where projects included Gareth Edward's The Creator, Halo (S2) for Paramount+ and Blueprint Pictures’ The Beautiful Game and A Very Royal Scandal (series). Matt most recently cast the Oscar shortlisted The One Note Man staring Jason Watkins and narrated by Ian McKellen.
