WORKSHOP FORMAT

In this online workshop, Shakyra will send out prepared scenes for you to self-tape before the class - we will send your Spotlight CV to Shakyra so that she can tailor the scene to suit you. You will then submit your take of the scene via a shared Dropbox.

There will then be a live Zoom session where each self-tape will be shown to the whole class and Shakyra will give her feedback live. There will be time at the end for a Q&A.

BIO

Shakyra Dowling is known for her work on Nocturnal (2019), Tigers (2020) and Un traductor (2018).

Shakyra has worked as a London based Casting Director on a wide range of visual media across a broad spectrum, specialising in casting British independent feature films, European co-productions, television and commercials. Having been on both sides of the casting couch, Shakyra instinctively understands what is desired from both the actors and directors whom she collaborates with, allowing her to deliver excellent quality work.

Shakyra’s keen eye for spotting talent recently manifested in ‘Mike’ being the first British short film to receive the ‘Crystal Bear’ at theBerlinale 2014. One of Shakyra’s earliest casting ‘Verity’s Summer’ from Cannes Palm D’Or nominated director Ben Crowe, whose lead actress India Barge-Wilson won Best Actress Award in British Independent Film Festival 2012.
