+ WORKSHOP FORMAT
An approach to Shakespeare.
This will be a two day workshop combining detailed text work, improvisation and movement in order to gain an understanding of the play and the rules of the world in which it operates. The improvisations around the text provide an opportunity to deepen the actor’s understanding of their character, to explore the emotional interplay between the characters as well as rooting them in the world of the play. Investigating the narrative on and off stage enriches the actor’s understanding of the character’s place in the world. This approach where in-depth text work goes hand in hand with playful ways of accessing the world of the play enables the actor to make bold choices and surprising connections whilst feeling part of an ensemble.
