#001 ANTON CHEKHOV'S UNCLE VANYA WITH SIMON FURNESS

Anton Chekhov

Anton Chekhov

EPISODE #001

  • We will have general discussion about people's relationship with and experience of Chekhov's writing, if any.

  • Who was Anton Pavlovich Chekhov and what is 'a Chekhov play'?

  • A reading and hearing of the play aloud (Copy of the play available via your confirmation email).

'I first got involved with this particular version of Chekhov's play when I was teaching at the Actors Temple. I hope you’ll join me on this ‘remote’ voyage into the heart of this play by one of the western world's great authors, a lover of dogs and long walks, doctor, philanthropist and man of the theatre. I’ve always felt a deep kinship with him and this play in particular. Over the time we have, I’d like to see if we can arrive at an understanding of its workings from the point of view of each of the characters. I look forward to experiencing this version of the play with you in our weekly sessions'.
